Rare Earth Magnet

Non-ferrous metals that storage locker buyers commonly (or have the potential of) deal with are gold, silver, platinum, aluminum, copper, lead, nickel, and brass. Sometimes the metal will be in plain sight as in the case of a piece of jewelry. Other times these metals can be found in old, unusable electronics. It all depends on the person how deep they want to go when looking for these metals. Many times, people have made and income off of scrapping old electronics for the metals in them. A search of the Internet will reveal how this is done.

The first test that should be done is seeing if the rare earth magnet is attracted to the metal. None of the metals on the list above will be attracted to a magnet. Do the check carefully and observe closely because sometimes a fast check won’t give good results due to smaller amounts of ferrous metals in the metal being tested.
